New Parent Support Group Terms and Agreements
This agreement serves as our contract for services. It’s important that we’re in agreement about what we’re going to do over the course of this group, and what we won’t be able to do.
Here’s what you’ve signed up for:
A 6-week parent support group consisting of weekly sessions lasting for up to 2 hours.
A few reminders about things we can’t do or are limited by:
Support groups do not involve the diagnosis or treatment of any medical or mental disorders and do not prevent, cure, or treat any mental disorder or medical disease. Further, support groups are not a substitute for therapy, counseling, psychoanalysis, medical treatment, substance abuse treatment, or the advice or services of a medical professional. If you are in need of these services, we may be able to offer you referrals in your area, but it is your responsibility to seek independent guidance to the extent necessary.
Confidentiality: Information you share with us will be treated as confidential, and we will not share this information without written consent, except in cases of mandated reporting, such as child abuse or neglect. We are not in control of what other members of the group choose to share: while we encourage everyone to be considerate of privacy, please be mindful of this limitation. We also ask that you agree not to share information about other group members outside of the group. You should be aware that our relationship does not give rise to privilege or any other legally protected confidentiality. In the extremely rare case of a court order to disclose information related to our work, we will notify you prior to disclosing the information.
And some notes about payments, refunds, and rescheduling:
The cost of the 6-week group is $250.
There are no refunds after attending the first group. If you have questions about this policy, please feel free to contact us.
As one intention to to be in community with other group members, groups will take place at the specified time and will not be rescheduled. In case of an emergency cancellation on the part of both facilitators, every effort will be made to reschedule the session.
A few things we ask of you:
Please bring an open mind, all your questions, and a willingness to be honest with yourself, your fellow group members, and us, the facilitators.
Share feedback with us throughout the group. We want to hear what’s working for you and what’s not. Sometimes we can make shifts to accommodate and sometimes we may ask you to challenge yourself not to make an accommodation.
Please do not share any original resources you receive from us without our permission.
At the end of our work, we may ask you for a review or “testimonial” and your consent to share your feedback. The submission of such a testimonial is optional and your choice to provide one or not will not impact the work we have done or any work we may do in the future.
We look forward to being a part of this step in your parenting journey and supporting you to build confidence and community around your newborn!
